ROCOR - Hilarion
The title ROCOR-Laurus refers to that part of the formerly-united ROCOR (Russian Orthodox Church Outside of Russia) which has followed Metropolitan Laurus (Skurla) back into communion with heretical Ecumenist Pseudo-Orthodoxy and the Soviet communist church calling itself the Moscow Patriarchate.
The ROCOR until recently, together with the Catacomb or underground Church in Russia, formed the part of the Pre-Revolutionary Russian Church that refused to become ideologically and politically one with the anti-Christ Soviet state in 1927, and also rejected the union with Roman Catholicism and all other heresies undertaken in 1965 by the Ecumenist Pseudo-Orthodox. In 1918, the whole Russian Church had anathematized the anti-Christ Bolsheviks and all those who collaborate with them, and in 1983, the ROCOR anathematized Ecumenism and all those who have communion with it. This strong Orthodox stand continued until 1994, when all the ROCOR hierarchs (with the exception of Metropolitan Valentine [Rusantsov] and his fellow bishops - see ROAC-Valentine below), then under the elderly Metropolitan Vitaly (see ROCOR-Vitaly below), proclaimed its communion with all Ecumenical Pseudo-Orthodox (see Cyprianites below) and with the Soviet creature, the pseudo-Moscow Patriarchate.
In 2000, however, after the official retirement of the elderly Metropolitan Vitaly, Archbishop Laurus (Skurla) became Metropolitan and has vigorously pursued closer union with Ecumenism and the Soviet ‘Church’. Thus, ROCOR-Laurus SHOULD FIND A PLACE IN THE HERESIES LIST.
