Chapter 44: The Falling Away of Archbishop Makarios and his Synod

The clergy of the “Holy Orthodox Church of North America” (HOCNA) monastery were deposed for homosexuality by the bishops of the Russian Orthodox Church Abroad in Dec. 1986.

Eventually (in 2013), Archbishop Makarios entered into full union with this loathsome parasynagogue synod of HOCNA! This made the GOC of Greece not only a schismatic church but also a heretical church, because HOCNA has espoused the name worshiping heresy and the GOC of Greece has remained in communion with it! We believe this caused Metropolitan Christopher of Mesogaia and Metropolitan Ambrose of Drama to flee from Makarios’ synod.

So this hapless group of Makarite bishops went into communion with clergy that the Russian bishops who had ordained them in 1961 had deposed. In uniting with the schismatics of HOCNA, who also teach the name worshiping heresy and the heresy of repentance after death, Makarios and his synod of bishops have become the same as HOCNA—not only schismatics, but also heretics.

In April of 2019 the schismatic synod of Archbishop Makarios broke communion with the heretical synod of HOCNA. Unfortunately, as is typical in our days of ecumenism, Makarios saw no need to repent of being in communion with heretics. This necessity of a formal repentance before bishops who have not fallen is a requirement of the Orthodox Church discipline.

Therefore Makarios, fancying himself as a true Orthodox hierarch, was in communion for six years with name-worshiping heretics, those who believe in repentance after death, and deposed clergy.

Repenting to true hierarchs who have not fallen is apparently too humiliating for many hierarchs or synods in our days. They remain, therefore, a synod under the guilt of violating the canons. Although they escaped the judgment of man, they are liable to the judgment of God according to canon eleven of the Holy Apostles: “A clergyman who prays in company with a deposed clergyman shall also be deposed.”

So we see that Makarios, who lied before God and the Church, and caused Archbishop Ambrose (Moran) to despair and fall away, has himself reaped the fruit of his ungodliness.
